Imperata rubra Japanese Blood Grass

Best known as Japanese blood grass. Makes a very attractive, low growing perennial. Commonly used as an ornamental grass that contrasts well with other grass varieties and foliage. Large drifts of this grass can be spectacular in the height of summer when the leaf is at its most intense shade of red. Also grows well in tubs or planters. For best results we recommend planting in cool to temperate areas in full sun and well-drained soil. In frosty areas this grass will go dormant in winter, warmer areas it will stay evergreen. Grows to around 35cm high with a 30cm spread.
