Cosmos atrosanguineus ‘Chocolate’
Best known as chocolate cosmos this wonderful perennial has mildly chocolate scented flowers that are an unusual dark red brown (sometimes near black) on fine stems during summer and into autumn. This plant also is a magnet for butterflies and can be used for cut flowers. It is deciduous in cold winter climates and can be evergreen in mild climates, it is soundly perennial unlike its annual cousins and is suitable for cool to temperate areas in full sun. They go dormant in winter and re shoot early spring. Frost resistant down to around -2 when established and mulched, but may need covering in very deep or repeating frosts. These grow by tubers which can also be dug up and stored in harsh winter climates. Grows here 50cm highx40cm spread . Supplied dormant or evergreen depending time of year in 450ml pots ready to plant.
