Helenium

Heleniums range in growing heights from 40cm up to 150 cm high. They should be grown in well drained garden soil, preferably mulched. They are a deciduous clumping perennial that is best cut back to the base at the end of each autumn for fresh new growth at the beginning of spring. If you're in a windy location the taller varieties can be tipped in late November for a lower growing plant. Most Heleniums flower here January, February and March. All our varieties are magnets for bees and butterflies whilst they look particularly good planted in drifts with Miscanthus grasses which flower at a similar time. For cool to temperate climates in full sun to part shade.
