Collection: Dianthus

These Dianthus are members of the carnation family and are commonly known as pinks or clove pinks. most of our varieties are the old-fashioned scented type and grow to around 25-35cm high. Most have bluish-green foliage that grows in a neat mound and makes for excellent contrast with lower growing plants with green foliage. They can be used as excellent cut flowers also but have shorter stems than regular carnations that florists use. The flowering commences in spring and continues until early summer, then sporadic flowering continues for the rest of the growing season. They are amazingly drought tolerant, but we find they put on a longer and flashier show of flowers if they are not left to struggle through summer heat. For best results, we recommend planting in cool to temperate climates with full sun.
