Crocosmia

Crocosmias are native to South Africa and can grow in a wide variety of climates. They form well sized clumps within a short space of time, look spectacular in large drifts giving a tropical feel to the garden and they flower over a long period, vividly in late summer to autumn. Most have lime green, sword type leaves growing to 80-100cm high. Cut back after flowering late autumn for fresh new growth in late winter/early spring. Very drought tolerant and suitable for most soils in sun in cool and temperate climates. We have seen them growing in the sub tropics as well.
